ANSWERS
TO QUESTIONS REGULARLY ASKED
WILL TI-TA-TOVENAAR BE REPEATED?
The series was broadcast for the last time in 2004 in the early hours
of Sundays. Not many people noticed.
In 2008/2009 an entirely new made series was broadcast.
ARE THERE VIDEOTAPES AND DVD'S OF TI-TA-TOVENAAR?
Yes, there are many videotapes and DVD's in a somewhat cleaned version
to be found on internet.
IS TI-TA-TOVENAAR OUTDATED?
Not for the kids. They still love it. The older humans
think different.
WAS IT
STRANGE TO SEE THE TI-TA-TOVENAAR MUSICAL?
We, Henk Votel and me, saw it with pleasure and did
not think it strange to see another Tika and granddad. The musical is
quite another medium than television.
For the new television series it was a bit different. I found it hard
to look at it without comparing.
WHO IS YOUR
REAL FATHER?
My father is Toby Rix. This
is his artist's name. His real name is Lacunes, as mine.
WHERE DOES THE NAME TI-TA-TOVENAAR COME FROM?
The magician was still without a name when the openingssong was written
by Lo Hartog-van-Banda. Two syllables were missing for the music being
made by Joop Stokkermans. Joop said: "look,
here I need another teeee-taaaah-tovenaar...." and Lo said: "That
sounds like a good name. It will be Ti-Ta-tovenaar".
WHERE DOES THE NAME TIKA COME FROM?
It was invented by the author Lo Hartog van Banda, who thought it
suitable with Ti-ta tovenaar. (The monkeys got the names Tato and Titi
) It sounds sweet, spicy and a bit exotic. I discovered that the
name is often used in China. In The Netherlands I heard from only one
woman that she was named Tika after her parents saw the series in the
seventies. (Since that time there are many more Maroesja's around)
WHAT DID TIKA DO AND HOW DID SHE DO IT?
Tika had learned to fly on a broom and made all kinds
of things appear with her magic flute. Often the wrong things such as
the gentleman in yellow instead of her monkey Tato.
But her main skill was freezing everything and everyone by clasping her
hands. By clicking her fingers (thumb and middle finger) she made it
all move again.
The jump in the air to other places was only possible
at the hand of Dad. He took her by the hand, grasped his hat, they bent
their knees, swinged their arms while he counted "one, two..."and they
jumped away by a synthesiser tune.
WHO WERE
THE GROBBEBOLLEN?
Puppets of green and yellow wool. Yellow was known for
his fast and squeezed voice: "Hupsakeeeee" and Green for his slow
"Hey brother...huhuhuhuhuhu" . The voices of Corrie
van
der Linden.
WHERE CAN I FIND PATTERNS OF THE GROBBEBOLLEN?
Many times people ask if they can buy the Grobbebollen and/or
their
patterns. They looked for them everywhere without succes.
But with a little fantasy and a lot of yellow and green wool it
should be possible to fabricate them!
WHAT WERE THEIR NAMES AGAIN?
Groentje en Geeltje (Green and Yellow). They also say "Brother" to each
other.
COULD I MAKE TIKA'S COSTUME?
Tika's
costume with sun, moon and stars at the back, was a design of Mitsie
Selhorst in seventies style.I don't have a pattern. But the design is on this site.
The blue
satin blouse was piped with red. Moon and stars were silvery elastic
velvet as was often used at the time. The sun was made of yellow
lining and on the sewing machine biased rays.
The costume I wore before that, was a brown suede jacket with orange
strokes and orange piped.
WAS IT REAL SEVENTIES STYLE WHAT YOU WERE WEARING OR
WAS IT OVER THE TOP?
As for most of the costumes: those were real seventies. Not very much
overdone. My first outfit was even more common than my dayly clothing
at the time. The braids were inspired on the single braid that I used
to wear in a wild bunch of curly hair, in which I pinned a raffia
flower. Real hippy. The flower became in the series a nice children's
hairpin with a four leaved clover.
Also dad's glasses had a clover like that. Ti-ta-tovenaar and the
gentleman were somewhat caricature,
Grobelia was an ordinairy hippy and my blue outfit
was inspired on a blue blouse I used to wear in daily life, only
decorated with a colourful peacock instead of sun, moon and stars. Also
the scenery was real hip.
WHERE CAN I
FIND TI-TA-TOVENAAR'S WRITTEN MUSIC?
I cannot help you there, the rights and music are with the composer:
Joop Stokkermans (Laren).
